This is Micro's answer to the attachment in yesterday's List 6448
As you can see from below he has continued to expand the capabilities of his Vietnam Air Losses Web site to help find those who are still missing.
The stats on the attachment sent with the last List certainly cause one to pause.
If you want to know more, go to this link: https://www.vietnamairlosses.com/index.php/statistics/loss-statistics. Scroll down the VERY long page to see losses by year, by service/by year, by aircraft type, by cause (with a listing of every one lost to a SAM and every one lost to a MiG, with type), and bunches of other stuff. At the top of that page, there is a link to enable downloading a spreadsheet with that information on it.
The picture of the MiG that claimed to have shot down 13 aircraft is immediately suspect. The North Vietnamese were notorious for claiming far more than they actually got. I think we had that conversation when you had a posting about the claims of a North Vietnamese pilot in a book he wrote, as I recall. They claimed something like 500 or more shootdowns, I think, but even records after the war showed what we have on the site as a total of 90 of our aircraft lost to MiG's of all types.
Separate subject: I got contacted by DPAA (Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency). Unbeknownst to us (Chris was stunned), the DPAA personnel all have a copy of Chris's book on their desks and take it to the field when they're investigating a crash site. The information in the book (narratives, for example) have helped them to interview witnesses. They recently discovered our online database. They asked for a copy of it, which I'm very protective of (since it only makes sense to me). It seems the database they have is not useful since they were forced to use different applications to access it (the IT bureaucracy in the government). So, I created five identical thumb drives with the search engines that I provide on the website, a portable Apache web server, a MySQL database, and PHP for interpreting everything. I met with them in Crystal City last week and gave them a demonstration of how it will work for them. They do not need access to the internet, which they don't have (or it's restricted) when they're in the field. They intend to take the mobile capability to the field later this month on one of their field projects. They can just copy all the files on the thumb drive to their hard drive and operate from there (no "installation" required). If anything breaks, they can just delete it all and copy everything from the thumb drive again.
In exchange, they'll give me the GIS map coordinates of every loss that they've already recovered. They won't make public the suspected coordinates of losses that have not been recovered so that treasure hunters won't beat them there and destroy the evidence. They still have not located about 90 crash sites in Vietnam and 10 in Laos. We have 3,327 aircraft with serial numbers in our database (23 of those are helos that were lost while participating in a SAR attempt of a fixed wing aircraft), so I'm hoping to get a good number of coordinates. I'll put those on the list of details associated with each loss so that someone can look it up. Someday, I'd like to be able to make that a hyperlink that would display a dot on a map, but that's a ways off as I learn something about how the hell to do that.
I look forward to hearing if the capability I gave them is useful and saves them from their dog-eared books.
All the best,
Micro

Smart Teacher
NOW THIS IS A TEACHER!
In September of 2005, on the first day of school, Martha Cothren, a History teacher at Robinson High School in Little Rock , did something not to be forgotten. On the first day of school, with the permission of the school superintendent, the principal and the building supervisor, she removed all of the desks in her classroom.
When the first period kids entered the room they discovered that there were no desks.
'Ms. Cothren, where are our desks?'
She replied, 'You can't have a desk until you tell me how you earn the right to sit at a desk.'
They thought, 'Well, maybe it's our grades' 'No,' she said.
'Maybe it's our behavior.' She told them, 'No, it's not even your behavior.'
And so, they came and went, the first period, second period, third period. Still no desks in the classroom. Kids called their parents to tell them what was happening and by early afternoon television news crews had started gathering at the school to report about this crazy teacher who had taken all the desks out of her room.
The final period of the day came and as the puzzled students found seats on the floor of the desk-less classroom. Martha Cothren said, 'Throughout the day, no one has been able to tell me just what he or she has done to earn the right to sit at the desks that are ordinarily found in this classroom.
Now I am going to tell you.'
At this point, Martha Cothren went over to the door of her classroom and opened it. Twenty-seven (27) U.S. Veterans, all in uniform, walked into that classroom, each one carrying a school desk. The Vets began placing the school desks in rows, and then they would walk over and stand alongside the wall. By the time the last soldier had set the final desk in place those kids started to understand, perhaps for the first time in their lives, just how the right to sit at those desks had been earned.
Martha said, 'You didn't earn the right to sit at these desks. These heroes did it for you. They placed the desks here for you. They went halfway around the world, giving up their education and interrupting their careers and families so you could have the freedom you have Now, it's up to you to sit in them. It is your responsibility to learn, to be good students, to be good citizens. They paid the price so that you could have the freedom to get an education. Don't ever forget it'
By the way, this is a true story. And this teacher was awarded the Veterans of Foreign Wars Teacher of the Year for the State of Arkansas in 2006. She is the daughter of a WWII POW
Do you think this email is worth passing along so others won't forget either, that the freedoms we have in this great country were earned by our U.S Veterans?... I did.
Let us always remember the men and women of our military and the rights they have won for us

The battle of the Coral Sea
1942 – The first day of the first modern naval engagement in history, called the Battle of the Coral Sea, a Japanese invasion force succeeds in occupying Tulagi of the Solomon Islands in an expansion of Japan's defensive perimeter. The United States, having broken Japan's secret war code and forewarned of an impending invasion of Tulagi and Port Moresby, attempted to intercept the Japanese armada. Four days of battles between Japanese and American aircraft carriers resulted in 70 Japanese and 66 Americans warplanes destroyed. This confrontation, called the Battle of the Coral Sea, marked the first air-naval battle in history, as none of the carriers fired at each other, allowing the planes taking off from their decks to do the battling. Among the casualties was the American carrier Lexington; "the Blue Ghost" (so-called because it was not camouflaged like other carriers) suffered such extensive aerial damage that it had to be sunk by its own crew. Two hundred sixteen Lexington crewmen died as a result of the Japanese aerial bombardment. Although Japan would go on to occupy all of the Solomon Islands, its victory was a Pyrrhic one: The cost in experienced pilots and aircraft carriers was so great that Japan had to cancel its expedition to Port Moresby, Papua, as well as other South Pacific targets.

Epstein Calendar Reveals 'Shadow Nobility' Running The World

Epstein Calendar Reveals "Shadow Nobility" Running The World - https://rumble.com/v2lj5pg-epstein-calendar-reveals-shadow-nobility-running-the-world.html
Jeffrey Epstein's newly-revealed private calendar showed scheduled meetings with the current CIA director, a college president and attorney who served in the Obama administration, according to a report published by The Wall Street Journal on Sunday.
The WSJ obtained new documents, which showed planned meetings with several prominent individuals, including now-CIA Director William Burns, Bard College president Leon Botstein, Obama White House counsel Kathryn Ruemmler and professor Noam Chomsky.
All of the meetings were scheduled to take place after Epstein had been jailed in 2008 on charges of solicitation, including soliciting a minor.
As Harrison Smith points out here, what's perhaps most notable about this calendar is that it contains none of the names that appeared in Epstein's infamous "Black Book" or in the public flight logs to his private island, indicating that there many other Epstein associates whose identities may never be known.
But overall, the people who were associated with Jeffrey Epstein constitute the "They" that we often refer to when we talk about the "Elite" who are currently at war with humanity.
Harrison says, "The CIA isn't an American institution, it's the American branch of the international intelligence community, which pre-existed the CIA and was instrumental in forming the CIA but the CIA was always formed as an outgrowth of what really started as the intelligence agencies of the banking families…
"It really all goes back to the Rothschilds – and of course, one of the Rothschilds is in this meeting with Jeffrey Epstein. The idea is that you had one family with multiple banks in every European country, that because of their connections and their courier service and their communication network, were able to receive news way faster than anybody else and that gave them a leg up on the markets and allowed them to consolidate and really empower their banking network. And so they really started the first intelligence agencies.
"And of course, they bought Reuters and AP and they control the news that goes out to every outlet. There's this marriage, behind the scenes of the intelligence agencies, the news agencies and the banking combines – are all like one faction, you might say, that operate behind the scenes."
Harrison did a good job during his broadcast yesterday of demonstrating how these Epstein associates are all key players in this Fifth Generation Warfare being waged against humanity.
He says, "You have to picture in your head, all of these people, all of their various organizations, all their institutions, all their family connections, from the Prime Minister of Israel to the heads of the Kissinger Group and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and it just illustrates to you who it is that's done all of this to us, from transgenderism to COVID and everything in between."

The view from the cockpit! What a lesson in coordination!
Four Hands, Four feet, and six eyes - all working as one! WOW !!!
The old company, Bombardier Aerospace, makes these. They don't "motor around" to fill the tanks---they touch down at approach speed, open the fill scoops, add lots of power, and the tanks fill in seconds.
There's one scene in the film where you can see the two tank level gauges rapidly go up. The other neat thing is watching the magnitude of the flight control inputs, especially aileron, as they are maneuvering down low---sometimes the pilot is literally going stop to stop.
Real flying... Where do I sign up!!!

This Day in U S Military History…….May 3
1855 – American adventurer William Walker departs from San Francisco with about 60 men to conquer Nicaragua. William Walker (May 8, 1824 – September 12, 1860) was an American lawyer, journalist and adventurer, who organized several private military expeditions into Latin America, with the intention of establishing English-speaking colonies under his personal control, an enterprise then known as "filibustering." Walker became president of the Republic of Nicaragua in 1856 and ruled until 1857, when he was defeated by a coalition of Central American armies. He was executed by the government of Honduras in 1860.
1944 – An acoustic torpedo fired by the U-371 hit and destroyed the stern of the Coast Guard-manned destroyer escort USS Menges while she was escorting a convoy in the Mediterranean, killing thirty-one of her crew. The Menges was later repaired and returned to service. She assisted in the sinking of the U-866 on 19 March 1945.
1945 – On Okinawa, Japanese forces launch a counteroffensive from positions in the south, during the night (May 3-4), but fail to break through the American lines. Japanese artillery batteries, that have remained silent until now to avoid American retaliation, support the assaults.
1946 – In Tokyo, Japan, the International Military Tribunals for the Far East begins hearing the case against 28 Japanese military and government officials accused of committing war crimes and crimes against humanity during World War II. On November 4, 1948, the trial ended with 25 of 28 Japanese defendants being found guilty. Of the three other defendants, two had died during the lengthy trial, and one was declared insane. On November 12, the war crimes tribunal passed death sentences on seven of the men, including General Hideki Tojo, who served as Japanese premier during the war, and others principles, such as Iwane Matsui, who organized the Rape of Nanking, and Heitaro Kimura, who brutalized Allied prisoners of war. Sixteen others were sentenced to life imprisonment, and two were sentenced to lesser terms in prison. On December 23, 1948, Tojo and the six others were executed in Tokyo. Unlike the Nuremberg trial of Nazi war criminals, where there were four chief prosecutors, to represent Great Britain, France, the United States, and the USSR, the Tokyo trial featured only one chief prosecutor–American Joseph B. Keenan, a former assistant to the U.S. attorney general. However, other nations, especially China, contributed to the proceedings, and Australian judge William Flood Webb presided. In addition to the central Tokyo trial, various tribunals sitting outside Japan judged some 5,000 Japanese guilty of war crimes, of whom more than 900 were executed. Some observers thought that Emperor Hirohito should have been tried for his tacit approval of Japanese policy during the war, but he was protected by U.S. authorities who saw him as a symbol of Japanese unity and conservatism, both favorable traits in the postwar U.S. view.
1952 – A ski-modified U.S. Air Force C-47 piloted by Lieutenant Colonel Joseph O. Fletcher of Oklahoma and Lieutenant Colonel William P. Benedict of California becomes the first aircraft to land on the North Pole. A moment later, Fletcher climbed out of the plane and walked to the exact geographic North Pole, probably the first person in history to do so. In the early 20th century, American explorers Robert Peary and Dr. Frederick Cook, both claiming to have separately reached the North Pole by land, publicly disputed each other's claims. In 1911, Congress formally recognized Peary's claim. In recent years, further studies of the conflicting claims suggest that neither expedition reached the exact North Pole, but that Peary came far closer, falling perhaps 30 miles short. In 1952, Lieutenant Colonel Fletcher was the first person to undisputedly stand on the North Pole. Standing alongside Fletcher on the top of the world was Dr. Albert P. Crary, a scientist who in 1961 traveled to the South Pole by motorized vehicle, becoming the first person in history to have stood on both poles.
1952 – Air Force Captain Robert T. Latshaw, Jr., 4th Fighter-Interceptor Wing, and Major Donald E. Adams, 51st Fighter-Interceptor Wing, became the 13th and 14th jet aces of the Korean War, shooting down five enemy aircraft each.

Monday Morning Thoughts and Humor--Mothers' Day
Don't forget to recognize the special lady(ies) in your life on Sunday!!! THIS SUNDAY DO NOT FORGET
This submission is for working mothers and stay-at-home mothers. Single mothers and married mothers. Mothers with money, mothers without. It also applies to any significant woman in your life or in the life of others. This is for you all. For all of you. Hang in there. In the end you can only do the best you can. We should tell you every day that we love you. And pray.
Submitted by Dean Laird:
If you are lucky to still be blessed with your Mom, this is beautiful. For those who aren't, this is even more beautiful. For those who are moms, you'll love this:
The young mother set her foot on the path of life. "Is this the long way?" she asked.
And the guide said: "Yes, and the way is hard. And you will be old before you reach the end of it. But the end will be better than the beginning."
But the young mother was happy, and she would not believe that anything could be better than these years. So she played with her children, and gathered flowers for them along the way, and bathed them in the clear streams; and the sun shone on them, and the young mother cried, "Nothing will ever be lovelier than this."
Then the night came, and the storm, and the path was dark, and the children shook with fear and cold, and the mother drew them close and covered them with her mantle, and the children said, "Mother, we are not afraid, for you are near, and no harm can come."
And the morning came, and there was a hill ahead, and the children climbed and grew weary, and the mother was weary. But at all times she said to the children," A little patience and we are there." So the children climbed, and when they reached the top they said, "Mother, we would not have done it without you."
And the mother, when she lay down at night looked up at the stars and said, "This is a better day than the last, for my children have learned fortitude in the face of hardness. Yesterday I gave them courage. Today, I've given them strength."
And the next day came strange clouds which darkened the earth, clouds of war and hate and evil, and the children groped and stumbled, and the mother said: "Look up. Lift your eyes to the light." And the children looked and saw above the clouds an everlasting glory, and it guided them beyond the darkness. And that night the mother said, "This is the best day of all, for I have shown my children God."
And the days went on, and the weeks and the months and the years, and the mother grew old and she was little and bent. But her children were tall and strong, and walked with courage. And when the way was rough, they lifted her, for she was as light as a feather; and at last they came to a hill, and beyond they could see a shining road and golden gates flung wide. And mother said, "I have reached the end of my journey. And now I know the end is better than the beginning, for my children can walk alone, and their children after them."
And the children said, "You will always walk with us, Mother, even when you have gone through the gates." And they stood and watched her as she went on alone, and the gates closed after her. And they said: "We cannot see her but she is with us still. A mother like ours is more than a memory. She is a living presence."
Your mother is always with you...she's the whisper of the leaves as you walk down the street; she's the smell of bleach in your freshly laundered socks; she's the cool hand on your brow when you're not well. Your mother lives inside your laughter. And she's crystallized in every tear drop. She's the place you came from, your first home; and she's the map you follow with every step you take. She's your first love and your first heartbreak, and nothing on earth can separate you. Not time, not space...not even death!
A baby asked God, "They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?"
God said, "Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you."
The child further inquired, "But tell me, here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy."
God said, "Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you. And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy."
Again the child asked, "And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language?"
God said, "Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak."
"And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?"
God said, "Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray."
"Who will protect me?"
God said, "Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life."
"But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore."
God said, "Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you."
At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, "God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name."
"You will simply call her, "Mom."
For those whose mom wasn't up to snuff, remember: you have two chances at having a family, the one you were born in and the one you make. Remembering also that a family is the circle of people with whom you associate. Your present 'family' is what you make it.

Written by Erma Bombeck:
By the time the Lord made mothers, he was into his sixth day of working overtime.
An angel appeared and said "Why are you spending so much time on this one"?
And the Lord answered and said, "Have you seen the spec sheet on her? She has to be completely washable, but not plastic; have 200 movable parts, all replaceable; run on black coffee and leftovers; have a lap that can hold three children at one time and that disappears when she stands up; have a kiss that can cure anything from a scraped knee to a broken heart, and have six pairs of hands."
The angel was astounded at the requirements for this one. "Six pairs of hands! No Way!" said the angel.
The Lord replied, "Oh, it's not the hands that are the problem. It's the three pairs of eyes that mothers must have!"
"And that's just on the standard model?" the angel asked.
The Lord nodded in agreement, "Yes, one pair of eyes are to see through the closed door as she asks her children what they are doing even though she already knows. Another pair in the back of her head, are to see what she needs to know even though no one thinks she can. And the third pair is here in the front of her head. They are for looking at an errant child and saying that she understands and loves him or her without even saying a single word."
The angel tried to stop the Lord. "This is too much work for one day. Wait until tomorrow to finish."
"But I can't!" the Lord protested, "I am so close to finishing this creation that is so close to my own heart. She already heals herself when she is sick and can feed a family of six on a pound of hamburger and can get a nine year old to stand in the shower."
The angel moved closer and touched the woman, "But you have made her so soft, Lord."
"Yes, she is soft", the Lord agreed, "But I have also made her tough. You have no idea what she can endure or accomplish."
"Will she be able to think?" asked the inquisitive angel.
The Lord smiled and replied, "Not only will she be able to think, she will be able to reason, and negotiate."
The angel then noticed something and reached out and touched the woman's cheek. "Oops, it looks like you have a leak with this model. I told you that you were trying to put too much into this one."
"That's not a leak," the Lord objected. "That is a tear!"
"What's the tear for?" the angel asked.
The Lord said, "The tear is her way of expressing her joy, her sorrow, her disappointment, her pain, her loneliness, her grief, and her pride."
The angel was impressed. "You are a genius, Lord. You thought of everything! Truly, You do all things well...moms are truly amazing!"
What Moms Really Want For Mother's Day
• To be able to eat a whole candy bar (alone) and drink a soda without any "floaties" (i.e., backwash).
• To have her 14 year-old daughter answer a question without rolling her eyes in that "Why is this person my mother?" way.
• Five pounds of chocolate that won't add twenty pounds to her figure.
• A shower without a child peeking through the curtain with a "Hi Ya Mom!" just as she puts a razor to her ankle.
• A full time cleaning person who looks like Brad Pitt.
• For her teenager to announce, "Hey, Mom! I got a full scholarship and a job all in the same day!"
• A grocery store that doesn't have candy/gum/cheap toys displayed at the checkout line.
• To have a family meal without a discussion about bodily secretions.
• To be able to step on a plane with their toddlers and NOT have someone moan, "Oh no! Why me?!?"
• To occasionally get to sleep late on the weekend. I mean is this too much to ask?
• To actually carry on a normal phone conversation with her toddler in the SAME room.
• To actually be able to finish a hot cup of coffee while her kids are present. An impossible feat!
• To take a hot bath without her toddler suddenly screaming, "Mommy, I have to go potty!" as soon as she hits the water.
These familiar saying have somehow been handed down from mother to daughter right through the ages. How many of these did you grow up with?
• Who do you think you are?
• Ask your father (closely followed by "Ask your mother")
• Bored! How can you be bored? I was never bored at your age.
• I'll treat you like an adult when you start acting like an adult!
• Look at me when I'm talking to you.
• Don't you roll your eyes at me!
• Don't pick it, it'll get infected.
• I don't care if "insert child's name here" Mom said yes.
• You'll put your eye out with that thing!
• I'm going to give you to the count to three.
• Don't put that thing in your mouth, you don't know where it's been.
• Wear clean underwear in case you get in an accident and have to go to hospital.
• Don't cross your eyes like that, one day they'll freeze that way
• I don't care who started it, I'll finish it!
• Don't EVER let me catch you doing that again!
• Why? Because I SAID SO, that's why!?!
• If such and such jumped off a cliff, would you jump too?
• If I catch you doing that one more time, I'll...
• Your father is going to hear about THIS when he gets home!
• If you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all.
• How many times do I have to tell you, don't throw things in the house!
• Do you think your clothes are going to pick themselves up?
• "I don't know" is NOT an answer!
• I know it's not fair. Life isn't fair.
Real Mothers…
• Don't eat quiche; they don't have time to make it.
• Know that their kitchen utensils are probably in the sandbox.
• Often have sticky floors, filthy ovens and happy kids.
• Know that dried play dough doesn't come out of shag carpets.
• Don't want to know what the vacuum just sucked up.
• Sometimes ask "why me?" and get their answer when a little voice says, "because I love you best".
• Know that a child's growth is not measure by height or years or grade…it is marked by the progression of Mama to Mommy to Mom.
The following are different answers given by school-age children to the given question:
Why did God make mothers?
• She's the only one who knows where the scotch tape is.
• Think about it, it was the best way to get more people.
• Mostly to clean the house.
• To help us out of there when we were getting born.
How did God make mothers?
• He used dirt, just like for the rest of us.
• Magic plus super powers and a lot of stirring.
• God made my mom just the same like he made me. He just used bigger parts.
Why did God give you your mother and not some other mom?
• We're related.
• God knew she likes me a lot more than other people's moms like me.
What ingredients are mothers made of?
• God makes mothers out of clouds and angel hair and everything nice in the world and one dab of mean.
• They had to get their start from men's bones. Then they mostly use string…I think.
What kind of little girl was your mom?
• My mom has always been my mom and none of that other stuff.
• I don't know because I wasn't there, but my guess would be pretty bossy.
• They say she used to be nice.
How did your mom meet your dad?
• Mom was working in a store and dad was shoplifting.
What did mom need to know about dad before she married him?
• His last name.
• She had to know his background. Like is he a crook? Does he get drunk on beer? Does he make at least $800 a year? Did he say NO to drugs and YES to chores.
Why did your mom marry your dad?
• My dad makes the best spaghetti in the world. And my mom eats a lot.
• She got too old to do anything else with him.
• My grandma says that mom didn't have her thinking cap on.
What makes a real woman?
• It means you have to be really bossy without looking bossy.
Who's the boss at your house?
• Mom doesn't want to be boss but she has to because dads such a goofball.
• Mom, You can tell by room inspection. She sees the stuff under the bed.
• I guess Mom is but only because she has a lot more to do than dad.
What's the difference between moms and dads?
• Moms work at work and work at home and dads just got to work at work.
• Moms know how to talk to teachers without scaring them.
• Dads are taller and stronger but moms have all the real power 'cause that's who you gotta ask if you want to sleep over at your friend's.
What does your mom do in her spare time?
• Mothers don't do spare time.
• To hear her tell it, she pays bills all day long.
What's the difference between moms and grandmas?
• About 30 years.
• You can always count on grandmothers for candy. Sometimes moms don't even have bread on them!
Describe the world's greatest mom?
• She would make broccoli taste like ice cream!
• The greatest mom in the world wouldn't make me kiss my fat aunts!
• She'd always be smiling and keep her opinions to herself.
Is anything about your mom perfect?
• Her teeth are perfect but she bought them from the dentist.
• Her casserole recipes. But we hate them.
• Just her children
What would it take to make your mom perfect?
• On the inside she's already perfect. Outside, I think some kind of plastic surgery.
• Diet. You know, her hair. I'd dye it, maybe blue.
If you could change one thing about your mom, what would it be?
• She has this weird thing about me keeping my room clean. I'd get rid of that.
• I'd make my mom smarter. Then she would know it was my sister who did it and not me.
This is for the mothers who
• Have sat up all night with sick toddlers in their arms, wiping up barf laced with Oscar Mayer wieners and cherry Kool-Aid saying, "It's okay honey, Mommy's here."
• Have sat in rocking chairs for hours on end soothing crying babies who can't be comforted.
• Show up at work with spit-up in their hair and milk stains on their blouses and diapers in their purse.
• Run carpools and make cookies and sew Halloween costumes. And all the mothers who DON'T.
• Gave birth to babies they'll never see. And the mothers who took those babies and gave them homes.
• Hang priceless art collections on their refrigerator doors.
• Froze their buns on metal bleachers at football or soccer games instead of watching from the warmth of their cars, so that when their kids asked, "Did you see me, Mom?" they could say, "Of course, I wouldn't have missed it for the world," and mean it.
• Yell at their kids in the grocery store and swat them in despair when they stomp their feet and scream for ice cream before dinner. And for all the mothers who count to ten instead, but realize how child abuse happens.
• Sat down with their children and explained all about making babies. And for all the (grand)mothers who wanted to, but just couldn't find the words.
• Go hungry, so their children can eat.
• Read "Goodnight, Moon" twice a night for a year. And then read it again. "Just one more time."
• Taught their children to tie their shoelaces before they started school. And for all the mothers who opted for Velcro instead.
• Teach their sons to cook and their daughters to sink a jump shot.
• Turns her automatically when a little voice calls "Mom?" in a crowd, even though they know their own offspring are at home-or even away at college.
• Sent their kids to school with stomach aches, assuring them they'd be just FINE once they got there, only to get calls from the school nurse an hour later asking them to please pick them up. Right away.
• Have children who have gone astray, who can't find the words to reach them.
• Bite their lips until they bleed when their 14 year olds dye their hair green.
• Have victims of recent school shootings, the mothers of those who did the shooting, the mothers of the survivors, and the mothers who sat in front of their TVs in horror, hugging their child who just came home from school, safely.
• Taught their children to be peaceful, and prayed that they would come home safely from a war.

The Images of Mother:
4 YEARS OF AGE--My mommy can do anything!
8 YEARS OF AGE--My mom knows a lot! A whole lot!
12 YEARS OF AGE--My mother doesn't really know quite everything.
14 YEARS OF AGE--Naturally, Mother doesn't know that, either.
16 YEARS OF AGE--Mother? She's hopelessly old-fashioned.
18 YEARS OF AGE--That old woman? She's way out of date!
25 YEARS OF AGE--Well, she might know a little bit about it.
35 YEARS OF AGE--Before we decide, let's get Mom's opinion.
45 YEARS OF AGE--Wonder what Mom would have thought about it?
65 YEARS OF AGE--Wish I could talk it over with Mom.
WHEN I'M AN OLD LADY
When I'm an old lady, I'll live with each kid,
And bring so much happiness...just as they did.
I want to pay back all the joy they've provided.
Returning each deed! Oh, they'll be so excited!
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids)
I'll write on the wall with reds, whites and blues,
And I'll bounce on the furniture...wearing my shoes.
I'll drink from the carton and then leave it out.
I'll stuff all the toilets and oh, how they'll shout!
(When I'm and old lady and live with my kids)
When they're on the phone and just out of reach,
I'll get into things like sugar and bleach.
Oh, they'll snap their fingers
And then shake their heads,
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids)
When they cook dinner and call me to eat,
I'll not eat my green beans or salad or meat,
I'll gag on my okra, spill milk on the table,
And when they get angry...I'll run...if I'm able!
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids)
I'll sit close to the TV, through the channels I'll click,
I'll cross both eyes just to see if they stick.
I'll take off my socks and throw one away,
And play in the mud 'til the end of the day!
(When I'm an old lady and live with my kids)
And later in bed, I'll lay back and sigh,
I'll thank God in prayer and then close my eyes.
My kids will look down with a smile slowly creeping,
And say with a groan, "She's so sweet when she's sleeping!"
God Bless All Moms and Grandmas Everywhere!
Don't Mess With Mothers
My son came home from school one day, with a smirk upon his face.
He decided he was smart enough, to put me in my place.
Guess what I learned in Civics Two, that's taught by Mr. Wright?
It's all about the laws today, the "Children's Bill of Rights."
It says I need not clean my room, don't have to cut my hair.
No one can tell me what to think, or speak, or what to wear.
I have freedom from religion, and regardless what you say,
I don't have to bow my head, and I sure don't have to pray.
I can wear earrings if I want, and pierce my tongue and nose.
I can read and watch just what I like, get tattoos from head to toe.
And if you ever spank me, I'll charge you with a crime.
I'll back up all my charges, with the marks on my behind.
Don't you ever touch me, my body's only for my use,
Not for your hugs and kisses, that's just more child abuse.
Don't preach about your morals, like your Mama did to you.
That's nothing more than mind control, and it's illegal too!
Mom, I have these children's rights, so you can't influence me,
Or I'll call Children's Services Division, better known as C.S .D.
Of course my first instinct was to toss him out the door.
But the chance to teach him a lesson made me think a little more.
I mulled it over carefully, I couldn't let this go.
A smile crept upon my face, he's messing with a pro.
Next day I took him shopping at the local Goodwill Store.
I told him, "Pick out all you want, there's shirts and pants galore.
I've called and checked with C.S.D. who said they didn't care
if I bought you K-Mart shoes instead of those Nike Airs.
I've canceled that appointment to take your driver's test.
The C.S.D. is unconcerned so I'll decide what's best.
No time to stop and eat, or pick up stuff to munch.
And tomorrow you can start to learn to make your own sack lunch.
Just save the raging appetite, and wait till dinner time.
We're having liver and onions, a favorite dish of mine.
He asked "Can I please rent a movie, to watch on my VCR?"
"Sorry, but I sold your TV, for new tires on my car.
I also rented out your room; you'll take the couch instead.
The C.S.D. requires just a roof over your head.
Your clothing won't be trendy now, I'll choose what we eat.
That allowance that you used to get, will buy me something neat.
I'm selling off your jet ski, dirt-bike and roller blades.
Check out the 'Parents Bill of Rights,' it's in effect today!"
"Hey hot shot, are you crying, why are you on your knees?
Are you asking God to help you out, instead of C.S.D.?"

And Your Occupation Is? Mother.
A few months ago, when I was picking up the children at school, another mother I knew well rushed up to me. Emily was fuming with indignation. "Do you know what you and I are?" she demanded.
Before I could answer, and I didn't really have one handy, she blurted out the reason for her question. It seemed she had just returned from renewing her driver's license at the County Clerk's office. Asked by the woman recorder to state her occupation, Emily had hesitated, uncertain how to classify herself. What I mean is," explained the recorder, "Do you have a job, or are you just a…?"
"Of course I have a job," snapped Emily. "I'm a mother."
"We don't list 'mother' as an occupation...'housewife' covers it," said the recorder emphatically.
I forgot all about her story until one day I found myself in the same situation, this time at our own town hall. The clerk was obviously a career woman, poised, efficient, and possessed of a high-sounding title like official Interrogator or town registrar. "And what is your occupation?" she probed.
What made me say it, I do not know. The words simply popped out, "I'm a research associate in the field of child development and human relations."
The clerk paused, ball-point pen frozen in midair, and looked up as though she had not heard right. I repeated the title slowly, emphasizing the most significant words. Then I stared with wonder as my pompous pronouncement was written in bold, black ink on the official questionnaire. "Might I ask," said the clerk with new interest, "just what you do in your field?"
Coolly, without any trace of fluster in my voice, I heard myself reply, "I have a continuing program of research (what mother doesn't) in the laboratory and in the field (normally I would have said indoors and out). I'm working for my Masters (the whole darned family) and already have four credits (all daughters)." "Of course, the job is one of the most demanding in the humanities (any mother care to disagree?) and I often work 14 hours a day (24 is more like it). But the job is more challenging than most run-of-the-mill careers and the rewards are in satisfaction rather than just money."
There was an increasing note of respect in the clerk's voice as she completed the form, stood up, and personally ushered me to the door. As I drove into our driveway, buoyed up by my glamorous new career, I was greeted by my lab assistants—ages 13, 7, and 3. Upstairs I could hear our new experimental model (6 months) in the child-development program, testing out a new vocal pattern.
I felt triumphant! I had scored a beat on bureaucracy! And I had gone on the official records as someone more distinguished and indispensable to mankind than "just another mother."
Motherhood...what a glorious career. Especially when there's a title on the door.
Mother's Day…
• If evolution really works, how come mothers only have two hands?
• Personally, I think today's kids ought to do something really special for their mothers on Mother's Day -- like move out!
• Hey guys -- looking for a great gift for your mother-in-law on Mother's Day? Why not send her back her daughter???
• A single mom was asked by a friend what her son was taking in college. With a sigh she replied, "Everything I have."
• Fathers -- take heart, your day is coming, and you can be sure of getting at least one thing—the bills from Mother's Day.
• Most mothers are always amazed when their sons/daughters marry a person with much lower mental capacity, ambition and moral standards, yet still manage to have utterly brilliant children.
• Mothers come in all shapes and sizes. For example, an Italian mother might chastise her offspring for not eating by saying, "Eat your dinner, or I'll kill you." A Jewish mother on the other hand would say, "Eat your dinner, or I'll kill myself."
• A daughter broke-up with her boyfriend. She asked her mother's advice about returning the gifts he'd given her. Without a pause, her mother replied, "Send back the stuffed animals and letters, but keep the jewelry for sentimental reasons."
A woman has twins and gives them up for adoption. One of them goes to a family in Egypt and is named "Ahmal."
The other goes to a family in Spain; they name him "Juan."
Years later on Mother's Day, Juan sends a picture of himself to his birth mother. Upon receiving the picture, she tells her husband that she wishes she also had a picture of Ahmal.
Her husband responds, "They're twins! If you've seen Juan, you've seen Ahmal!"
Have a great week,
Al
