Civil War begins as Confederate forces fire on Fort Sumter



The bloodiest four years in American history begin when Confederate shore batteries under General P.G.T. Beauregard open fire on Union-held Fort Sumter in South Carolina's Charleston Bay. During the next 34 hours, 50 Confederate guns and mortars launched more than 4,000 rounds at the poorly supplied fort. On April 13, U.S. Major Robert Anderson surrendered the fort. Two days later, U.S. President Abraham Lincoln issued a proclamation calling for 75,000 volunteer soldiers to quell the Southern "insurrection."

As early as 1858, the ongoing conflict between North and South over the issue of slavery had led Southern leadership to discuss a unified separation from the United States. By 1860, the majority of the slave states were publicly threatening secession if the Republicans, the anti-slavery party, won the presidency. Following Republican Abraham Lincoln's victory over the divided Democratic Party in November 1860, South Carolina immediately initiated secession proceedings. On December 20, the South Carolina legislature passed the "Ordinance of Secession," which declared that "the Union now subsisting between South Carolina and other states, under the name of the United States of America, is hereby dissolved." After the declaration, South Carolina set about seizing forts, arsenals, and other strategic locations within the state. Within six weeks, five more Southern states–Mississippi, Florida, Alabama, Georgia, and Louisiana–had followed South Carolina's lead.

In February 1861, delegates from those states convened to establish a unified government. Jefferson Davis of Mississippi was subsequently elected the first president of the Confederate States of America. When Abraham Lincoln was inaugurated on March 4, 1861, a total of seven states (Texas had joined the pack) had seceded from the Union, and federal troops held only Fort Sumter in South Carolina, Fort Pickens off the Florida coast, and a handful of minor outposts in the South. Four years after the Confederate attack on Fort Sumter, the Confederacy was defeated at the total cost of 620,000 Union and Confederate soldiers dead.

I want you to stop for just a minute. This is NOT a political post. This is simply a post that I hope you can find in your heart to think about.

I was profoundly moved today just thinking about the weight that he must be carrying. I know my anxiety level at times is high and I feel like the weight of the world is on me. I know when he signed up for this role, he was willing to take on whatever, but the magnitude of what we're experiencing has got to be paralyzing. Maybe it is, maybe it isn't but can you imagine? I sat and wondered how he must be dealing with it all.

When it's quiet and his head finally hits a pillow after he's been on his feet all day, press conference after press conference... Does he cry? Is he even able to sleep? Is he scared? Can he shut his mind off?

When I look at our President, I want you to see him the way God sees him and I want the Lord to use him for His glory! Whether he's making you proud or not, I'm urging you to look at him and ask the Lord to soften your heart to him, lift him up in prayer. He needs them. He's carrying the weight of the world.

Once again... not a political post I just want to share what's been heavy on my heart today.

The History of Toilet Paper



With the run on toilet paper that we've had, it's nice to learn about its origin.

This is a bit of history that will truly make us thankful. We definitely need to thank the Chinese. Sometimes it's good to read something that makes you smile! I know that you have always been curious, so now you'll know.

1. The first recorded use of toilet paper was in 6th Century China.

2. By the 14th Century, the Chinese government was mass-producing it.

3. Packaged toilet paper wasn't sold in the United States until 1857.

4. Joseph Gayety, the man who introduced packaged TP to the U.S., had his name printed on every sheet.

5. Global toilet paper demand uses nearly 30,000 trees every day - that's 10 million trees a year.

6. It wasn't until 1935 that a manufacturer was able to promise Splinter-Free Toilet Paper.

7. Seven percent of Americans admit to stealing rolls of toilet paper from hotels.

8. Americans use an average of 8.6 sheets of toilet paper per trip to the bathroom.

9. The average roll has 333 sheets.

10. Historically, what you use to wipe depended on your income level.

11. In the Middle Ages, they used something called a gompf stick, which was just an actual stick used to scrape.

12. Wealthy Romans used wool soaked in rose water, and French royalty used lace.

13. Other things that were used before toilet paper include hay, corn cobs, sticks, stones, sand, moss, hemp, wool, husks, fruit peels, ferns, sponges, seashells, knotted ropes, and broken pottery (ouch!).

Escalating volcanic activity in the Icelandic Reykjanes peninsula has the potential to cause disruption for 300 years, scientists have warned.

The penninsula, which is south-west of Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland, has not erupted for 800 years.

However, since the 21 January it has seen more than 8,000 earthquakes and the land uplift of 10cm due to underground magma intrusions, according to the Icelandic Meteorological Office (IMO). These figures suggest the area is becoming active once more.

The last time the peninsula erupted around 800 years ago during the 10th century, it continued to erupt for 300 years into the 13th century.

Speaking to the i, Sigríður Magnea Óskarsdóttir, a specialist in natural hazards at the IMO, said: 'There were eruptions in the Reykjanes peninsula 800 years ago, but in our lifetime, what we are experiencing is very unusual.'

Typical Icelandic volcanos, the effects of which were seen in 2010 with the eruption of Eyjafjallajökull which covered much of Europe in ash clouds, tend to wake for a few years before dying down.

When the Reykjanes peninsula sees volcanic activity it can produce eruptive episodes, known locally as 'fires', for centuries, creating fissures of up to 8km in length in the earth which spew lava.

While these 'fires' have less explosive activity, as was see in 2010, they can cover large areas of land in lava.

When this occurred 800 years ago between 1210 and 1240, an area of around 50 square kilometers was covered, while volcanic rock fragments and particles were spread tens of kilometers by wind.

Such a volcanic event could cause huge disruption for people living in the area, and many of their generations to come.

The nearby town of Grindavik would be at severe risk if lava flowed towards it. The area is also home to a geothermal power plant, while water supplies could also be damaged, as could a number of key roads.

With Iceland's international airport Keflavík only 15km away, this activity could also cause huge levels of disruption for Iceland's international travel.

Almost all international flights entering or leaving the country go through Keflavik, at which many flights between Europe and the U.S. also stop or change.

The Icelandic Geo Survey, which catalogues Icelandic volcanoes, predicts that in a similar event to 800 years ago, the airport runway could be covered with up to 2cm of ash, which would halt all flights.

'Wind direction during times of ash production is critical – anything with a slight northerly aspect is going to cause problems for the international airport and the metropolitan area of Reykjavík,' McGarvie said to the Guardian.

'People on the Reykjanes peninsula, and their descendants for several generations, may have to be on their guard and ready to evacuate every so often.'

Icelandic volcanoes bring back memories of 2010, when the eruption of Eyjafjallajökull spewed giant ash clouds across much of Europe, causing huge levels of global travel disruption.

However, the eruption in 2010 only lasted for slightly over three months, a fraction of what is being predicted if the if the Reykjanes peninsula comes to life once more.

U.S. attorney general William Barr implied in an interview Thursday that U.S. Attorney John Durham is prepared to prosecute former intelligence community officials if evidence shows they illegally surveilled the 2016 Trump campaign over allegations of collusion with Russia.

Barr, who tasked Durham last May to review the origins of the Russia investigation, told Fox News's Laura Ingraham that the Connecticut U.S. attorney is "looking to bring to justice people who were engaged in abuses if he can show that there were criminal violations."

"My own view is that the evidence shows that we're not dealing with just mistakes or sloppiness, there was something far more troubling here; and we're going to get to the bottom of it," Barr stated. "And if people broke the law, and we can establish that with the evidence, they will be prosecuted."

Very little is publicly known of Durham's work, which has since been upgraded to a criminal investigation, with House Judiciary Committee Ranking Member Jim Jordan (R., Ohio) saying last month that Durham's investigation "is due to be completed sometime this summer." But the probe's scope goes beyond that of DOJ Inspector General Michael Horowitz, who in recent months has detailed how the FBI abused the FISA process in its Crossfire Hurricane investigation of the 2016 Trump campaign. "[Durham]'s not just looking at the FBI, he's looking at other agencies, and departments, and also private actors, so it's a much broader investigation," Barr explained in December.

Durham made headlines for issuing a rare statement saying that he did "not agree" with Horowitz's assertion that the FBI had an "authorized purpose" for opening Crossfire Hurricane. While former FBI officials were quick to claim that the IG report had exonerated them of wrongdoing — James Comey attributed the FISA abuses to "sloppiness" — Horowitz later clarified that his office "did not" conclude the FBI was unaffected by political bias, because of a lack of evidence to the contrary. Last week, Horowitz released an update of his ongoing audit into the FBI's transparency protocols which showed that 29 FISA applications reviewed from 2014 to 2019 all included "apparent errors or inadequately supported facts."

Durham has spoken to Italian and Australian officials over contacts between former Trump campaign foreign policy advisor George Papadopoulos and Maltese academic and alleged Russian asset Joseph Mifsud, who offered to connect Papadopoulos to Russians in possession of "thousands of emails" containing damaging information about then-candidate Hillary Clinton.

While Horowitz found that the FBI's investigation was sufficiently predicated based on a May 2016 memo from former Australian diplomat Alexander Downer, which relayed Papadopoulos's claim that Russian intelligence had damaging information about Clinton ahead of the election, Downer has said publicly that Papadopoulos made "no suggestion" that "there was collusion between Donald Trump or Donald Trump's campaign and the Russians."

A transcript released this week shows Papadopoulos, in an October 2016 conversation with a confidential FBI source, calling it "bulls***" that Russia had hacked the Democratic National Committee to assist the Trump campaign.

Durham is also reportedly scrutinizing a 2017 intelligence community assessment that detailed Russian interference in the 2016 election, and stated that Vladimir Putin "ordered an influence campaign" that "aspired to help" Trump and discredit Clinton. Durham has met multiple times with former National Security Agency director Admiral Michael Rogers, whose agency broke from the FBI and the CIA's high confidence in the assessment to report moderate confidence and was the "lone exception," as former CIA Director John Brennan testified in May 2017.

A source told Fox News in February that Durham has yet to interview Brennan and former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper — who recommended to former president Obama in 2016 that Rogers be removed. The New York Times reported in December that Durham is investigating what Brennan knew of the infamous Steele dossier, and whether Brennan conferred with Comey regarding it. Horowitz's December report said that the CIA considered the dossier to be nothing more than an "internet rumor."

Democrats have labeled Durham's inquiry "a vehicle for President Trump's political revenge," as the president has long clamored that he was the subject of a "witch hunt" by Obama-era officials, but Barr has defended Durham as "a by-the-book kind of guy" who is "thorough and fair."

"He's a 35-year veteran of the department, great reputation for non-partisanship. He was selected by two Democratic attorney generals to do sensitive investigations for them," Barr said in October.

She has called everybody and read them the latest news on "The Rona". She asked for the manager at Food Lion, Walmart, Publix, McDonalds, Chi-Fil-A, and Vons all before noon demanding more toilet paper. Karen's kids are currently faking "The Rona" to avoid her. I'm delivering "Hello kitchen" to her.

Karen will not survive longer than Brad.

Is sitting in the swing watching her kids have a water balloon fight in the front yard as she is on her fourth glass of wine. She went to the store and bought 2 cases of pop tarts, 6 boxes of cereal, 8 bags of pizza rolls, And a 6 roll pack of toilet paper. It is helpful to look at the actual timeline. All of this happened BEFORE the 1st death in US.


I got most of this info from CDC tweets so anyone can look it up to check for accuracy. There were many more actions in between, I just took some highlights.

Trump announces there are 2 medicines that could really help battle this virus. Democrats and the media immediately attack him calling him irresponsible. Accusing him of giving people false hope and started to claim nothing has been approved to treat the virus.

Fast forward 6 days and NY governor Cuomo says exactly the same thing the president said. "Says there's two drugs they will start trying to treat this virus with". Suddenly the democrats and media all start saying this is what great leadership looks like because it was said by Cuomo.



They have no shame, no credibility or any resemblance of integrity within them. All that matters to them it seems is to attack Trump and the conservatives.

The democrats fought to include millions of spending in the relief bill that had nothing to do with helping those who needed help immediately.



Now in parts 2 and 3 of the relief bill they are trying to do more of the same all while pointing fingers at the president when he and the senate refuse to sign due to the strain on the economy with all the wasteful spending the democrats insist on adding.

Let's not forget, our economy was booming, the formerly jobless were employed and a huge trade deal with China had all happened in just a short period of time, then all at once, Saudi undercut the cost of oil per barrel, Russia began over producing oil, then the virus spread from China with the WHO covering for them all causing our economy to tank... sorry, I just do not believe in coincidence.

Pray for those in leadership in our country, they need it! Pray for the first responders and healthcare workers who are on the front lines during this and pray for one another. Rant over.
